Shaheed El-Hafed, August 12, 2017 – The Association of Families of Saharawi Prisoners and Disappeared (AFAPREDESA), called on the international society for creation of an international committee to investigate the repression committed by Morocco against Father Deida Ould Al-Yazid And his family in the occupied city of El-Aaiun.

The Association underlined in a communiqué that

“the savage and excessive Moroccan aggression against Father Deida Ould Al-Yazid and members of his family, in front of the house of his daughter Tumana Deida, enforces the need to create an international mechanism for Monitor human rights.”

The brutal intervention, added the statement,

“seriously injured Deida and his daughter Tumana,”

who was waging a hunger strike despite being pregnant.

Moreover, Moroccan forces of repression surrounded the entrances to the family home of Deida, to prevent the arrival of supporters and sympathizers with their protest.

AFAPREDESA, received an appeal from Tumana Deida, clarifying that

“the family was subjected to repression, theft of their belongings and the burning of their house,”

therefore, “we demand international protection.”

The statement indicated that “violence against this family is motivated by their militancy and political opinions.” And despite that, “the family will resist” and will continue its struggle for self-determination of the Saharawi people.

Finally, AFAPREDESA condemned the Moroccan police repression and demanded that the incident be investigated through the creation of an independent international committee.
