Over the past few days, attention has been drawn towards the Sahrawi refugee camps southwest Algeria where hundreds of thousands Sahrawi refugees live since the Moroccan invasion of Western Sahara in 1975 after the Spanish withdrawal.
On November 28th the Spanish authorities issued a warning of a “Serious possibility of a terror attack against the Spanish citizens visiting or working in the Sahrawi refugee camps.” A threat that have been pushed numerous times by the kingdom of Morocco; in an effort to hurt the POLISARIO’s (Front Popular for the liberation of Saguia El Hamra and Rio De Oro) credibility and to cut down humanitarian aid to the Sahrawi refugee camps.
The Sahrawi people living in the refugee camps have relied entirely on the humanitarian aid and the unconditional support from people from all over the world, particularly from Spain, Latin America and USA.
As opposed to what the Moroccan and the Spanish Media claim to assert, there is an overwhelming evidence which proves the refugee camps are safe and where friends of Western Sahara are welcome to come and go as they wish.
Here are some of the testimonials documented by SAUSA‘s president during his recent visit to the refugee camps.
